Hi everyone, im having a bit of a dilemma.

I am currently a sophomore and i have only completed BIO1,2 & GenChem1,2 and Orgo 1,2(currently), however i have had no time to take physics. I plan to study and take the mcat junior spring as well as apply to medical school. However, if i take physics Junior fall and junior spring i feel as if it may hinder my focus to study for the mcat. So i have two options.

1. Take physics1,2 in the summer (the only downside to this is the professor, the guy has absolutely horrendous ratings on RMP), so i dont know if i should "risk" it and go this route

2. Take major related pre-reqs in the summer and do physics1,2 with a decent professor in the fall/spring of junior. Only issue im having with this is im not sure when i will get to study for the MCAT since i have to take two other upper level science courses (biochem1 and immunology for my major).

Any advice?

Only you know your limit. If it were me, I would just take physics in the summer despite the professor. I know the importance of having a good professor, but more than often I was left with no choice.

Study your <€}*> off and you should be ok.

You are in the exact same boat as me.
I was planning to finish Physics I at my fall semester and leave MCAT studying for my winter.
Then I would take the MCAT at April and take Physics II at the summer.
Good Idea or no? I do most of my learning outside the classroom so I'm thinking I can teach myself the second semester of Physics on the MCAT review books, TPR, TBR, Examcrakers.
I just don't want to have to submit my scores later, since the AMCAS is not verified unless the scores are in, whereas the pre-reqs should only need to be taken to matriculate.

I would take the MCAT in the summer before senior year and take physics junior fall and spring. Taking both semesters in the summer could be crushing. A summer study time is usually enough for most people for the MCAT.

I'm in the exact same situation. Its either Physics I and II over the summer or microbiology and genetics over the summer. I'm like a B math student so I'm not sure...

Isn't it standard for people to take physics during their junior year, the MCAT in that spring of junior year and submit apps during the summer? I don't think it should hinder you, but allow you to reduce your studying for the physical science section.

Well not everyone follows the same schedule and does everything junior year. So it could be different...

This is what I am doing.

Stop making it difficult. Take Physics I and II junior year. It HELPS MCAT studying. Trust me.

this basically means your applying end of senior year? i want to apply summer of junior year

If you apply summer after your junior year, does that mean you plan on going to medical school your fourth year? Sorry, still a freshman and not too sure about the cycle process.

its ok, the way the cycle works is if you "hope" to matriculate into a medical school right after you graduate from undergraduate (september after senior year is over), you apply junior summer. Then all of senior year you stress out over getting interviews, traveling places and waiting for acceptances. This is exactly what i hope to do

I would take physics during your junior year only if you can ensure that you will have a light course load in spring in order to study for the MCAT. If not, then I would take it in the summer. Getting a great MCAT score is much more important than the small amount (if any) that taking it over the summer might affect your GPA.

good point. so im assuming no one really does the physics I,II junior year thing anymore?
