When to take step 1?

So my school offers starting rotations a few weeks after MS2 ends. It'd be 8 weeks of IM or surgery or something else then we'd get some time to study for step 1 and take the exam? Some ppl claim having time in IM helped them with step 1. Just wondering if anyone has experience with this? For me, I feel like I'd just want to do some dedicated time after MS2 take the test then do rotations.

Any advice would be appreciated!
