I'm an MD/PhD @ middle of the road program, interested in IM PSTP residences. Step 1 234, >5 pubs, many posters, F30 award, mostly high pass in M3 courses. Currently slated to take Step 2 CK near the end of September (after September 15). Would taking Step 2CK at that time hurt my application in any way, in terms of getting interview invites? Thank you

Very likely NOT.... Less than 4% of IM PSTP directors thought that Step Scores were important or critical in their evaluation of applicants. 234 means that you can pass, what matters is 5 publications and F30... as long as your evaluations say that you are not a clinical liability, there will be a lot of interest in your application.
