first time poster and could definitely use some opinions.

Background:I'm a second semester senior taking 2 (pretty) easy core classes, biochem 2, and writing a thesis in history. I spent most of winter break prepping for the DAT and i'm doing the Kaplan course now that ends the first week in March.

Now that I have my schedule finalized and my calendar mapped out I see two possibilities for when I can take the DAT, either mid-april (around the 17th) or after I graduate in mid-May, so i figure if I take it in mid-june I could take 4 straight weeks of doing nothing but DAT studying.

I'm kind of on the fence because both have their pros and cons. While taking it in April would allow me to send in my application the first day it opens and be in the first batch, along with giving me the opportunity to take it again if need be in the early summer, my school workload is heavily weighted to the first half of the semester, and my final thesis copy is due mid-april. Taking it in June, while risking not being able to take it again until September would allow me to relax and enjoy my last semester of college and give me ample study time after I graduate.

I'd really appreciate any opinions, thanks a lot everyone.

The first batch is sent out last week of June and will go out regardless of whether or not your DAT scores have been added to your application. It usually takes about ~2-3 weeks for processing so you still would be first batch if you submitted your application in June and your DAT scores may go out in the next mailing the week after at the latest I'd estimate which is not a big deal at all. If you are confident you will get an acceptable score the first time around then take it in June, otherwise April.

Take the DAT in June. As long as you got decent grades in your prereqs, you should be able to obtain 20+ by studying 4-8 hours a day for those 4 weeks. Set your test date early and it will surely motivate you to study. Best of luck
