When to worry?

I'm an alternate/waitlist at all 5 schools that I interviewed with, and have still heard nothing.... I realize it is early (very early), but with most schools already sending out the second round of acceptances and I didn't one, when should I start to worry about the numbers not being in my favor?

Private school wise, I wouldn't worry since they tend to extend invites reallllly late and even as the next AADSAS cycle opens....for state schools you are waitlisted at, I think it is safe to worry on those a little more. Contact the schools....if you know your #1 top school, reach out to them...I don't think a letter of intent will necessarily grant you admission...but it wont hurt

I agree with the March estimate, although there are students accepted as late as the week before classes start in some cases, if a spot suddenly become available. The point is that there's still time, so don't worry too much.

I interviewed at 3 predecember and was waitlisted as well so I'm kinda in the same boat. Like someone already said, the waitlist at private schools moves a fair amount and you can get accepted anytime between now and August! Calling the school or emailing could never hurt as long as you're not being too pushy

I'm really big on making sure I have backup plans, so if you don't hear anything after the next round of acceptances go out for most schools the first or second week of February, I would begin planning on how to spend the next year. You don't have to put that plan into action until much later, but at least you will have had some time to think about it.

Honestly its not very early. Like other people have mentioned, always have a plan B, C, etc ready to go and start committing to those. I was on a bunch of wait lists and my biggest advice is not to sit and worry every day about getting off them. Put your time and thought into something else and if you get an acceptance than great, but if not, you have already moved on to the next plan, whatever it is.
