Hi,

I'm using the committee letter service from my school, but I just have a question about it.

So I'm ready to submit my AMCAS app on the first day it opens, which is June 4th this year.

I called my committee letter service rep, and he said that around 100 people each year end up submitting their apps on this date. Since they send out applicants' letters according to how early each student submitted their AMCAS app, they said that they'll probably be able to send the first batch of letters out to the AMCAS between late June and early July.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this means that my AMCAS primary app will be completed between late June and early July right?

So in that case, I'm sure it'll take a week or two for the AMCAS to prepare and review my app, and if everything goes well, will send it out to the medical schools I'm applying to.

Does this mean that I'll get my secondaries back between mid July-early August?

I'm just trying to get the rough timing so i can plan ahead of time...

thanks!

Many schools do not actually need your letters before you submit secondaries. Last year the first secondaries came out in the last week of June and continued all through the end of August for a few schools.

If you submit on June 4, you'll be verified before AMCAS transmits applications to medical schools. So you'll get secondaries as soon as schools send them out. I got my first secondary the day after applications were submitted last year, and my last one more than three months later. Expect to start receiving them at the end of June/early July.
