This might be a silly question, but when people are talking about GPA on this board or when the opt schools list their average GPA, does that represent overall GPA, science GPA, or pre-req GPA?

If it represents science or pre-req GPAs then how significant is overall GPA???

I just want to make sure because I'm a second year undergrad with a 3.0 science and 3.55 overall right now and am worried that the 3.0 is not competitive.

Thanks in advance! 👍

people usually just refer to overall GPA but schools look at overall, science and i believe prereqs. I would try to raise your science GPA up a little, but your not in bad shape at all.

it would be hard to list pre-req GPA on the forum because all the schools have different pre-reqs.

no need to raise anything. You're fine.

Thanks guys.

Also, what if that 3.0 is with 3 C+'s 🙁
Is it important what kind of grades gave me the 3.0 average?

I know schools don't want grades lower than a C, that's why I'm so stressed out about my science grades right now.

I would think it is ok, just try to avoid future C's. To have a 3.0, you either go straight B's or get some C's. no worries.
