Do you find it useful to study by chief complaint instead of studying certain diseases and topics. I think this is a stronger way to formulate a directed hx/PE and treatment algorithm vs. random reading.

Speaking of studying. Does anyone know of a good audio series for EM? It would be nice to rock out to EM in the car.

Ohio ACEP or NEMBR make excellent board review series on DVD. AS for studying, intern year was great for learning by chief complaint - read the same topics over and over again until they stick. There are about 20-30 basic presentations that you should know cold, forwards and backwards. After that, read Rosen's or Tintinalli's cover to cover to pick up everything else...

So for us premeds with nothing better to do than study (or just need a distraction from the dreaded ochem), what would those topics be? PE, CHF, MI, CVA, plus ??...

damn, you know that terms already?! they don't make premeds the way they used to. i don't think i knew where the liver was when i was in college

If you really need a distraction, focus on studying for and acing your MCAT. You'll have plenty of time to learn medicine once you get in...
