I'm going to apply for a prelim medicine program, and I'll apply to all the programs around my medical school. Beyond that, are there any programs that are worth moving for? I don't have specific reasons (family, SO, etc) to move to another city, but I'm willing to do so if there are programs that have a good reputation for teaching (maybe Harvard, JHU, Stanford, UCSF?). I'm looking for academic programs with lower volume, higher acuity and lots of elective time.

lol then where are the good TY programs?
Would a TY provide 'all that' more than a prelim year?

TY years are typically taken by people going into Optho/rads because they’re “easier”. Now realize, people may not want to provide you a list since they want to apply to those places themselves. Also yes, TY years usually have more elective time than a prelim year will.

The good TY programs are going to be the ones that pay a lot and give you lots of elective time.

The best medicine prelim program is going to be the one where you don't have to move far between pgy1 and 2.
