Where are you appling for Fall 08?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm not applying to clinical science programs. I'm not interested in eventually becoming a clinician (again). Been there...done that. Having said that, UC Davis, UC Berkeley, Stanford, University of Denver, University of Wisconsin, Notre Dame University, University of Washington..these are my for sures. I have a few possibles...

you?

I'm applying everywhere, it seems. Although I'm trying to narrow down my list of potential schools to 15. Not having much luck though.

U of Miami
[...]
George Mason

hmm....might be leaving off one or two.

My shortlist was very similar to yours.

I also haven't narrowed it down to the final list but so far:
Berkeley
Washington
Northwestern
UCSD's joint program
BU
McGill
York
UIC

I was originally going to apply to more clinical programs than I am now b/c I just received a coaching position that I would like to stick with for a few years. Therefore I'm only applying to schools in the Boston area, but not just Clinical Programs...This is my 2nd "serious" attempt, 3rd actual attempt.
I have my M.A. from BU in general Psychology and have been working as a research asst. in a brain imaging facility for the last 2 years, teaching as an adjunct for the last 2 Fall semesters, and doing outreach counseling for the last 9 months. I am on 1 paper IN PRESS, and 1 in submission. GRE's are Average...Undergrad GPA is Above Average and Grad GPA is Excellent...But I probably still won't get in 😉

Clinical Programs:

UMASS-Boston
Suffolk University (Maybe)

Ph.D. programs in Psych with a Neuro focus:
Tufts
BU's Behavioral Neuroscience program
Boston College
Braindeis (Maybe)
BU's Brain, Behavior & Cognition program (Maybe)

I was originally also applying to UCF, Temple, UVM & UCONN

Ok:
Here's MY long list (which will be narrowed down as well by December):

PhD:
Northeastern University: Combined Counseling/School
UConn: Counseling

PsyD:
Rutgers (Reach school)
MSPP (Might get cut)
Pepperdine
Hartford
Antioch-New England (Might get cut)
Pace
Immaculata
PCOM
Chestnut Hill
Yeshiva (Might get cut)
Midwestern (Might get cut)
Stanford (Another REACH)

So yeah, that's 14 schools right there...which will probably end up being 9-10 by the time I decide to send out applications in December.

::SIGH:: ... I really hope I get in SOMEWHERE. This will be my second time around (I applied Fall '05 also and took a Master's program after being rejected EVERYWHERE)...
If not--it's J-O-B time until Fall '09 applications are due (I'm not giving up!)

Does Stanford have its own PsyD program or are you talking about Stanford/PGSP?

Just want to make sure, since I definitely thought Stanford was a PhD-only school.

Sorry..No I was talking about the PGSP/Stanford consortium...

Is the PGSP/Stanford consortium competitive come apps time? PGSP (by itself) is not. Just curious.

Yes from what I've been told, PGSP/Stanford is extremely competitive

I should have looked it up at the outset...

I have the 2008 APA Graduate Study in Psychology. According to it, the PGSP/Stanford Consortium (PsyD program) had 145 applicants and accepted 31. That's greater than 20%. Way less competitive than the programs I've seen. A couple of examples: University of Washington: had 145 applicants with 4 offers; UC Berkeley: had 321 applicants with 8 offers.

Hope that is helpful. I am damn glad I am not applying to clinical programs. 😉
