Hey this is my first posting, past emict from KUMC. Dr McSwain was the father of Emergency Med, and I was wondering his current location.

He's a trauma surgeon at Charity in New Orleans. On faculty at Tulane.

Norm Mcswain used to be the medical director for my ambulance service in kansas waaaaay back in the day.

I just read a big article on him the other day. sounds like he is still a trauma king of sorts.

He was my advisor in med school and wrote one of my letters of recommendation for surgery residency. He's truly a class act - one of the greats. One of my favorite quotes of his involves the 3 "S's" in life "Surgery, Scotch, and Sex - anything keeping you from one of those three things just isn't worth it."

Yea, he invited me to apply for surgery at Tulane. He said in an email that he would teach me the 3 S's. I didn't have a freaking clue what he was talking about, so I asked. When I got the reply, I thought it was hilarious. When he gave me the answer, he said "not necessarily in that order."
