i have an article that's epub ahead of print. published online already, will be published in print soon. does this go in the "peer reviewed online journal" section? this seems somewhat less pretigious. plus, the article has been accepted for print, but just is not out yet.

thoughts?

If you have a pub date for the print journal, list it. If not, list it as an online publication. Honestly, nobody cares. You published...period. It's not like Nature online publishes a lot of crap while Nature print only takes the cream of the crop. They publish the same stuff, just at different times (like 2-4 weeks apart).

The appropriate way to list this is in the "Peer reviewed journal article/abstract (other than published)", and list the status as "in press". Online publication refers to a separate category of publication that is not necessarily in the same tier as peer reviewed journal.

I have an article right now that is epub ahead of print. They haven't assigned our article to a physical issue yet; that date is still uncertain and could be weeks or months away. Yet, it has been published online, and has a PMID associated with it. Still, because it is a peer-reviewed journal, my only recourse is to list it as "in press" in the "other than published" category, and I realize that interviewers and committees will recognize this as a successful peer-reviewed publication. Gutonc is right... you published. Splitting hairs at this point.
