I just recently decided to pursue DO because it seems more realistic for me.

Here are my stats:

sGPA & cGPA = 3.5
MCAT:
- 6/2013: 5/8/9 = 22
- 1/08/2015: 9/9/9 = 27

Activities:
Research: 5 semester of undergraduate independent research, but it did not lead to publication.
Shadowing: 100 hours +, but no DO hours. Can I apply now, and get my DO shadowing hours later?
Volunteer: 400 hours at a clinic that catered to mentally/physically disabled people. 500 hours volunteering at a hospital (mainly discharged patients).
ETC: I had a leadership role at my fraternity and I did various other volunteer activities that were under a 100 hours.

Where should I apply? I live in Virginia

- VCOM: their in-state tuition is the same as out of state, which is a bummer
- LUCOM: cheaper tuition but they are new and they get some hate here.
- Rest: don't know about other schools, I would appreciate your help.

Thanks!

In state: VCU, VTC, EVMS, VCOM (DO).
It doesnt hurt to try your in state MD schools. I wouldnt waste my money on UVA thougu because they're super competitve. Can't suggest LUCOM.

Others: CUSOM, WVSOM, KCU, ATSU-KCOM. ATSU-SOMA, Burrel-COM at NMSU, RVU.

Did your research lead to any posters or presentations?

Thanks for the reply, I'll look into those schools. I am retaking the MCAT in august but I might just be too late for MD schools.

Add MUCOM, ACOM, Pikesville, LMU, Wm Carey, all three VCOMs.
Thanks for the reply. I don't think I have the financial capabilities to apply to too many school. I was thinking about applying to 5-7, maybe 4 schools that fit my stats and 2-3 that are my reach schools.

If you're interested in underserved the AT's will be a good place to apply. They are heavy on EC'S.
