Hey guys, I'm very knew to this- I posted this in the pre dental forum by accident, don't know if that matters. Thought i'd post it here as well..

I currently graduated from Umass (amherst) with a finance degree. I have a finance gpa of 3.4 and an overall gpa of 3.122. I am going to start applying for post bacc programs for carreer changers-for dental- and am not quite sure if I am qualified enough.

Is my gpa good enough to get into some of the formal post bacc's? I was thinking BU (my father teaches there), maybe NYU, columbia.. wanted to either be in boston, NYC, or sandiego.

Also- are programs like sandiego state University a bad choice, even if I get good grades? has anyone been a part of the SDSU informal post bacc program?

thanks for the help,

1) Just for future reference, your finance gpa isnt important. But your science GPA is

2) Your GPA is competitive for most post-baccs

3) Have you done any of the pre-reqs?

4) why are we posting somethings in red?

5) hello to a fellow UMass-Amherst alum.

thanks for such a quick response, I really appreciate it.

I have not taken any science pre-reqs. Do you think its a better idea to apply to formal post bacc's like BU, NYU, columbia over a school like SDSU?

So you think it is worth applying to NYU/columbia with my GPA?

Have no idea why somethings are in red hah.

Thanks again robflanker

I personally wouldnt apply to NYU/Columbia. Not many good things have been said about either program here.

I also don't know anything about SDSU - i'm an east coast kid, so sorry.

Did you read the post-bac sticky at the top of this forum? I suggest it, its a little old but has some good info.
