hey. this messege is for any one that has been chicago.... i have an interview in ico next month... i live in miami, florida so i have no idea what to do went i get there. 🙄 .. does any know any places to stay around ICO? and how is the interview over there?
thanks 😍

I'd like to know too...I just got an invitation for an interview from ICO. Has anyone been to an ICO interview yet and would like to share his/her thoughts? Thanks.

If you are comming by yourself, I believe you can spend the night in the RC (dorm). I think that would be a great way to see if you like the school. Otherwise you should have received a list of hotels in the area closest to ICO. I can't think of the names of any right now, but I stayed in one on the list.

i live about 5 minutes from ICO...so i know a little about the neighborhood...

mccormick place's hyatt is the hotel listed in that little booklet. it's one of the nicer hotels that are closer to the college, but there isn't really anything to do nearby. the surrounding neighborhood isn't that safe either. i would recommend staying in one of the downtown hotels. if you stay more than just one night, you could also do some sightseeing or shopping in the download area. a taxicab ride would only take about 15 minutes to get to ICO.

i hope this helps those who will be coming into town for their interview...

I stayed at the hyatt when I came, it is pretty nice.

The Hyatt is really close but if you're going to be spending some time in the city and want to really enjoy the sites stay on Michigan Ave. you might pull a lake or grant park view and you can easily access some museums, theatre (2 blocks west) and shopping down the mag mile. I've stayed at the Chicago Hilton right on Grant park and it was a very nice hotel

Good luck with interviews

For an interview at ICO you will show up and hang out with Anthony at the front door. Someone from admissions will come down and bring everyone up at the same time. You first meet with someone to go over your file to see if it is complete and discuss your grades on the OAT or classes or whatever you want to talk about. After that, your interview is with a faculty member and they want to know about you - why you want to be an optometrist, why you are interested in it, etc. After that it is pretty much the same old stuff, tour the school, meet with financial aid, have lunch. Before you go, you will write a single page paper on some topic like "Why I want to be an optometrist" or something that you should be able to B.S. your way through pretty easy. The essay does not determine whether you get in or not, your interview will pretty much do that. It is a low stress time - really. Hell, I got in here.
