Hey everyone. I want to go to a mock interview to receive feedback on my interview skills. Since I'm not a student I don't think that I can go into a career center to use their services. Has anyone had any luck with getting mock interviews?

Do you have any connections to someone working in an HR capacity? If so, you can ask them (or acquaintances, for that matter) to peruse the Interview Feedback section of SDN to ask you some questions and try a faux interview.

I don't know anyone with an HR capacity, I do have some acquaintances that are willing to interview me, but they already know quite a bit about me. I want someone who doesn't know me to evaluate me so that there'd be no bias on the performance feedback.

So far I've only been answering practice interview questions in the mirror.

I've had two interviews and I have one more lined up. I found out that I am on the deferral list for the first school that I interviewed for. Is it possible to ask the school for feedback on my interview?

I take that you're not currently working?

it is, at the end of the interview season in June. Schools don't give feedback all the time, and those that do won't comment on a wait list.

Correct, I just came back from abroad (I was shadowing physicians) to attend interviews. Currently I have a potential job lined up as a medical assistant. I also live nearby the university where I conducted research for many years, so I'm going to try to get information for mock interviews through the alumni service after Thanksgiving break.

This isn't an answer to your question, but just another prep suggestion that I've found helpful: in addition to answering interview questions in the mirror, videotape yourself answering interview questions (you could have anyone ask them), and then watch and critique the video. If you have a Mac, you can use QuickTime to do this. Good luck with your upcoming interviews!

Thank you so much for the tip! I'll give it a try. It's probably good practice to start analyzing myself in videos since it seems like many schools have simulation centers where you can watch a video of yourself in a clinical setting.

I second this! It was by far the best thing I did to prepare for my interviews.
