Where to reapply???

Quick stats:
sGPA 3.0-3.1 depending on summer, fall 08 and spring 09 grades
cGPA 3.1-3.2
DAT:
AA18
TS19
RC20
PAT18
QR14

I will be applying again next year and need some advice on where to apply and if there is anything I might do to increase the odds. tons of EC and research. WHen I applied I hadn't finished the prereques and I am probably taking the DAT again...... What are my chances if I can get a 20 or so on the DAT?

Call schools which have rejected you and ask what you could do to improve your application for next cycle. Then do what they say. 🙂 Get the ADEA guide and look for schools whose prereqs you have and whose DAT and GPA ranges encompass your scores.

I think with a lower gpa (I say lower because the average gpa of what schools accept is about 3.5) you will need to compensate with a higher DAT. If the average DAT is a 19 then you'll need 20s, maybe even a 21 overall.

Go to Predents.com and get a good idea for what the averages are at various schools. look at the stats of those who have been accepted. Match and compare yourself. I've spent hours and hours going through that site to know where I'll apply.

I don't think you need 22+ but that 14 must be hurting you. If you are going to reapply you might as well retake the DAT and make sure you do better. Keep in mind it's not all about the numbers, take on some ECs. Just do your best and don't freak out if you don't get that 22+... Good luck!

People often say, "it's not all about the numbers". And I completely agree. No need to get 22+ since adcoms are looking for well-rounded applicants. But the problem is, according to one of the dean of admission is that, there's too many well-rounded applicants. So how do they pick'em out? Either one of the following in no particular order:

1) have stellar GPA/DAT
2) have a unique EC (e.g. set up a dental clinic in 3rd world country)
3) have a unique story (personal statement)
4) is a URM

IMO, having a stellar GPA/DAT can quickly get you through the first set of doors. So make your life easier by working hard to get that high GPA and/or DAT. Then the rest of your app doesn't have to be as unique or amazing.

well buddy just like everyone else has mentioned..u need to do all of it...its hard to cut it with the competition these days...i recommend goin for a masters program, that way u will not need the 22plus some have mentioned... overall ur numbers for the DAT were pretty avg, but u do need to hit some 20's and as far as QR goes u need to improve that a lot..other than that i think ud be fine if u take the time to nail these steps... i would also contact the schools and speak to reps personally, they really like it when u show interest in their school..
