Hi there,

OK, so I'm feeling a little overwhelmed with the whole process of starting my Optometry endeavor! I've been out of school for a while and am re-thinking my career path. I have no science pre-reqs under my belt from undergrad so it looks like I'll have to start at ground zero. I've been advised to take my pre-reqs at a JC, as it its more cost efficient. I'm in the process of looking for a job that will coordinate with taking some classes, shadowing, volunteering, etc. Also, the whole science pre-reqs are a bit daunting.

I'm in the process of researching the OD route or the PA route, which I know are fairly different. Not sure if I should get a job working at an Optometry office or at a Opthalmology office (since PA schools want you to have experience working in an MD setting)
I'm leaning towards the OD route but want to keep my options open.

Does anyone have advice or suggestions for someone who's starting from ground zero?? And if anyone has had a similar experience willing to share, that would be really helpful.

Thanks so much! Looking to hear from a helpful compadre!:hardy:

That's funny, I've been debating between PA or Optometry for a while now. I've been leaning towards optometry, but who knows?? Good luck to you!🙂
