I was going to submit to AFP but I read that they do not take any articles with students listed as an author. What review journals are more student friendly? The senior author is an attending physician.

To put it vaguely, the paper is a review and education piece on patient management for general practitioners.

I would like the journal to be indexed in pubmed.

You should ask the senior author. He or she should have a good idea of which journals are most appropriate for this particular article, accounting for both its topic and the fact that you are a student. This is the first time I have heard of a journal that will not accept a manuscript simply because a student is on the byline.

"AFP does not consider manuscripts that include student authors, and it is required that resident physicians, if involved with the manuscript, work with an experienced attending physician who is the first and corresponding author."

Yeah I thought it was pretty extreme and I wasn't sure if this was common practice for reviews. If anyone knows any mid to lower tier journals with this scope, please let me know.

There are tons of online journals, so do some digging to find one that's legit. Your school librarians can help. Mine seem to have good noses for vanity or predatory journals.

.

Didn't see that the senior author was an attending. Suggestion does not apply.

Yes, lets not judge the manuscript based on it's scientific merits and quality and instead exclude it because there are non-physician authors.

I mean I get that this specific journal's mission is to acquire "succinct, authoritative clinical reviews of a subject designed to aid family physicians in the care of patients." which would preclude student first authors, but no where in the author list? Seriously?
