I personally like Ettingers . . .
Wikipedia.
Just kidding!
Could be a good place to start... gather some related terms etc. or get a bearing. But what do I know? 🙄

That's funny, because I decided that I might hate PBL almost as much as I think I'd hate living in Pomona. Western is a big maybe for me at this point... please don't take it personally! Just wanted to let you know now, so you wouldn't be disappointed later...
Feel free to try and talk me back into it, too. 🙂

JAVMA - the journal of the AVMA usually has scientific articles and research and makes for a good source.
As student about to enter a PBL curriculum, I would love input on your favorite reliable source for anything vet med? Where do you go when you have to get an answer?
Some sources I can think of are VIN, 5 min. Vet,and plumbs. Anyone else?
Hmmm, my BigSib? A been there done that 2nd year?? hehe, I'm glad you posted this b/c I'll be just as clueless!

As a current student I can tell you that this will be an on going question... that will be asked and asked again.
I can tell you that the 5 minute vet consult won't even come close to what you need. The only thing I recomend it for would be for the ACT exams that you will have once a semester.
Ettinger that was mentioned is ok, two of the most popular books for physiology is Medical Physiology (human) and Duke's Physiology of Domestic Animals...... IVIS is a good place to look for articles as well as VIN. The library also has acess to many online journals. I wouldn't go out and buy a bunch of books until you have a chance to look at them first. Make sure the book is formulated in the way you learn...all others have their own style (some more pictures and diagrams vs more text etc.) You need to know your learning style prior to purchasing. The school reccomends that you utilize the library before purchasing.
Last year their was a book list made by students that went around from the year above us...and I am sure the DVM 2012 class (my class) will also send this around too.
No worries! PBL is fun once you get the hang of it!
