So here are my options...Let's assume that the costs are identical for all five because UIC is ridiculously expensive for a state school...

University of Illinois (Chicago campus)
Loyola Stritch
Medical College of Wisconsin
Albert Einstein
Boston University

That's tough. For me it would just depend on where I want to live and which school seemed better at the interview. I can't think of any other reason to pick one over the others.

since i'm not from chi town...i would go to Einstein...BU is a close 2nd..but it's too expensive

Also, apparently BU trains its students to be killers..

i've heard only great things from med students about loyola..but yeah..UIC is super expensive..

Damn, you beat me to it.

OP- Which felt more your style at the interviews? Which have highest board pass rates? Which city do you like more? Did you talk to students from any of these... what do they think?

If it were me, I'd go the furthest south. Cold weather in Chicago and cold, dead people in Boston...

Loyola and UIC, for in-state students, are comparably priced. That does mean UIC is somewhat expensive. That said, it depends on where you want to live and train. Loyola's hospital is fantastic, but it's just that and the Hines VA hospital for nearby rotations (except Westlake Hospital, ha ha ha). UIC has UIH, Rush, Jesse Brown VA, Cook County, Northwestern, Advocate Christ [bit of a commute but worth it].

Loyola's facilities are newer and they use the block system, whereas UIC does not. Whichever decision you make will be the right one for you.

Does Loyola have a better reputation? or just better facilities? cuz I think i was leaning towards UIC between those two mostly because of location...

what about boston and aecom? how do these compare with the rest?

Batteries: I went to UIC's second look because I had interviewed in Peoria, so I had not seen the chicago campus up until this past weekend.

Do you want to do research? Is prestige important to you? If so, I would lean towards BU or Einstein, but I really don't know anything about BU other than its reputation. I know you said they were all similarly priced, but your cost of living during college will most likely be cheapest at MCW, and most expensive at BU or Einstein.

Here are my personal experiences, so take with a big fat grain of salt.

Loyola - very low key. Doesn't seem very hard, but students seem happy, and the facilities were nice.

UIC - you'd get to see some cool stuff being right downtown and I think you can do rotations at Cook County General, which would also expose you to some nifty stuff. People I know who go here aren't madly in love with the school.

MCW - the 2 people I know who went here said they loved it. Very cooperative learning environment.

Einstein - great education and research opportunities. Also will get cool clinical experiences being in the Bronx.

Hope this helps a little...
