Its awkward how school's that have hurricanes rolling through them have gotten their secondaries to students faster than UCSF. According to their site I was processed 8/20; today is 9/20. Is it possible to get lost in their application pool? Im an in-stater and have gotten all my secondaries and dont see why I wouldnt get one from them. Anyone else wait longer than a month?

UCSF is a school that screens tougher than other schools of that caliber. i don't know what the percentages are but someone here posted it awhile ago. something like a relatively small ratio of secondaries are sent out compared to applicants received and an even smaller ratio of interviews granted compared to most schools.....they're definately one of the more stringent processes when it comes to the 'type' of applicant they want.

i waited 6 wks and finally got one.

I know, but im fairly certain I should be getting one; I dont want to sound arrogant which is why my only question is whether people have waited longer than a month for a secondary. Anyone get one recently?

what are your stats?
i've been complete at UCSF since 7/29 and i'm still waiting to hear back from them

You guys mean complete as they recieved your primary ap?

They received mine certiified AMCAS on 7/29/04. Guess they download in batches. I'm not as competitve as some other folks on here though, so I won't be surprised if I don' get one.

it's not at all awkward that you got all your uc secondaries but not ucsf - there are many applicants in the same boat. they are tougher and do take some time, but you can be sure they're reviewing it since they do get back to you on their decision.

you're definitely competitive uegis... many people i know got ucsf secondaries with stats like yours.. i think they care about the science gpa a lot more than the overall.

Thanks constructor. That's good to know. This whole process just makes you lose a lot of self-esteem and causes self-doubt. UCSF is my reach school though. I grew up in SF and loved it there. I have a few high school friends (Lowell anyone?) who goes to UCSF and loves it. If i even get a chance to interview, I will feel privileged.

Hahaha, yea, a lot of Lowell kids up in Berkeley. I probably don't know most of your classmates because I was class of 98. I know, old guy here. Good luck with your apps/interviews. UCSF will come around soon.

Haha, Lowell power! CO '01 right here.

Pinkertinkle making me feel so old 🙁 So u were there when I was a senior already. Haha, its my own fault for taking my sweet time with the whole process. Where did you go for ugrad? Berkeley? Good luck with everything my fellow cardinal. My how the school has changed since I was last there. Wonder how many people from Lowell is on this board...

Yeah, to Cal I go. I'm sure there are a few Lowellites around.

I was born and raised in SF. Didn't go to Lowell...too dumb for them. But went to Wallenberg, aka Wallyworld. I think we're about the same age. Don't worry. Tons of people applying to med school our age. The average age for matriculants at many schools is 24-25, so we're not too far off. Good luck!

OP, sorry for making this thread into the SF Premed thread, but just want to get to know some folks around here.

I went to middle school ten blocks away from Wallenberg at Roosevelt. I didn't get into Wallenberg though. My district HS was Balboa, not the greatest place so I was glad I got into Lowell. Well, good luck with the whole process.

Yeah, I can certainly see why your parents didn't want you to go to Balboa! Actually, I live right by Lincoln HS. Good luck to you too! And to the OP, my apologies as well! 🙂
