Hey peoples,

I'm a post-bacc (the "whoops" kind, not the career changer kind) with a low pair of GPA's. My goal is to end this school year with a 3.3c/3.1s, so that I make it past screens for when I apply (after my SMP). While I'm completing this post-bacc at a 4-year university, the difficulty pales in comparison to my undergrad (even the upper levels). The change is driving me a little bit crazy, but regardless for next semester I have two options for Biochem - Foundations of Biochemistry or plain old Biochemistry. They're the same number of credits, with the former being a recommended pre-req for the latter. Is there any disadvantage for taking the easier class in my situation? Should I just take the easy A?

The most logical question is: What do the two courses teach? If you can get a copy of the syllabus or class description for the classes, then you could better decide.
Are they the same level? I.e one 4000- level, and one 2000- level?

To me, it sounds like "Foundations" of biochemistry is a lower-level class, probably designed for nursing majors?

I would probably skip the foundations, if what I said above is true. But, if you wanted to take them both consecutively for a GPA booster, there's always that option.
Obviously, the upper-level class would be most beneficial for future studies.

Foundations is a prereq and, therefore, a lower level course. I thought that was implicit?

Regardless, my deal is that I need to get my BCPM GPA as high as possible. I'm depending on the numbers from undergrad to get me past screens and the SMP performance to get me into medical school. I want to know if taking a lower level class to boost my BCPM GPA will be a deal breaker for adcoms, or if they would just rather see A's. From perusing these forums for a bit it seems like they generally don't care, but I know there are a few admissions people floating around and I wanted their input.

Why do you have a choice if it's a pre-req then?...
