i have the option of taking either immunology (3 credits) or embryology(5 credits) next semester. Which one is more helpful on the MCAT? medschool?

take immuno and save 2 hours out of your week to prep other ways.

You just need to know basics for both on the MCAT. I agree, take the one that will consume less time. For me, taking practice tests helped me the most

immuno...I just remembered I got some weird passage on Ig classes on my April MCAT....not that it's relevant or anything

I'm sure someone will argue with me, but for no good reason I would guess immunology would be more important in med school...now commence arguing

I think both of those classes sound really good for med school. As far as the MCAT, you really don't need to bring advanced knowledge in with you. If it's beyond the premed requirements, all the info you need will be contained within the passages.

Here's another question: Principles of Genetics or Molecular Biology? I'm only concerned with prepping for med school, the MCAT is behind me. (Whew!)

I'm gonna go with genetics for DianaLynne, and the other one is kind of a toss up. I have both immunology and embryology right now. The credits are opposite from yours (embryology 3, immunology 4 with lab). I say go with what you're most interested in if you have to choose. For the MCAT, I don't think that they would help you with any more than 1 or 2 questions.

DianaLynne: genetics

cmb81: embryology (I actually took this while I was preparing for the MCAT) ... I had an embryology passage on my MCAT version; I suppose it could have gone the other way and I could have gotten an immuno passage

i say neither immuno or embryology is necessary for mcats. i studied for both topics out of the kaplan book and i did just fine in biosci. it'll give you everything you need for sure.

well, i think u have a greater chance of getting something from immunology on the mcat because it contains more concepts, whereas embryology has more memorization. im taking immunology next quarter, but not for the mcat, just because i want to.
