if you could only do 2 courses per semester which combo would you do?

phys1/orgo 1
phys1/ bio 1
orgo1/ bio1

i just want to know which combo would be easier to handle in terms of workload

orgo1/bio1 since you want to start it off easy. If you think there is a better combination if you are fast-paced then you can choose it, that is just my preference. Bio1 for me was learning organisms and evolution and orgo1 is learning how atoms interact and how molecules are put together (bonding).

BIO/physics is probably the easier one

ppl say never to take o-chem + bio. too much memorization..
physic/ochem is the popular sophmore schedule for most pre-meds

/agreed. My major required me to take Organic I-III at the same time I was enrolled in Anatomy and Physiology I-II. Never do that. You need to pick a schedule where you have a chance to learn and not just survival study for tests.

Also be sure to read course descriptions. That was just my opinion though because that was what they were at my school.

At my University, the premed advisor explicitly told us to never take organic chemistry and physics together. He referred to it as the "kiss of death." The work load is just too intense.

either phy1/bio1 or orgo1/bio1
... I wouldn't try mixing orgo and phy together. It can be very time consuming and burn you out by the end of the semester. Good luck with whatever you decide!

I hated physics, and ochem is time consuming...so I would personally go with Bio/Orgo. Biology really is a pretty easy class.

then what do the students at your university do..
take o-chem soph year and then physics junior year?

I would try to avoid Bio and O-chem together, but the other two options should be fine. I think I would take physics and bio and then take O-chem a little closer to when you'd take the MCAT.

I guess I would like to know what would you take the 3rd class with then? Assuming you did Bio/Orgo soph year, would you then do physics/biochem the next? Or physics with no other science classes?
Gen bio is easy so I wouldn't stress about that one.
My school had a really screwed up time block for physics which would have prevented me from taking some of my honors classes, so I chose to take it over the summer after my sophomore year (2 semesters in 2 months). It was kind of an all-day every day thing, but for some reason physics concepts were harder for me to grasp so the immersion was actually a good thing.

I have a question..
just how important is o-chem on the mcat?
would it be better to
physics and a few biology courses versus physics and o-chem my sophmore year..
i mean would it be smart to take o-chem and lets say anatomy your junior year and take the mcat around.. lets say april?

in my school physics 11 is only offered in spring so i have to take phys1 in the fall, so if i take phys with bio that means i'll take orgo over the summer. don't even know if that is a good idea😕

idk
i honestly am in a similar position..
which is why i decided to take o-chem and physics together next year..
o-chem over the summer might prove to be a suicide..

In that situation you are probably going to want to take Ochem I & II and Phys I & II that year and then take some bio over the summer.

Or you could just take all 3.

 Just kidding. I did something similar to that and it was pretty difficult.

I would do Organic and Bio or Physics and Bio.

I would not mix Organic and Physics, since that's what I did and it wasn't fun.

I would do phys 1/ bio 1. They both seem like pretty straightforward classes with manageable workloads at the same time. Remember, though, that the difficulty of classes is often dependent on the professor.

in his situation he's gotta take physics / ochem
because if he doesnt he'll have to take o-chem over the summer
which i think wouldnt be wise

Ochem is about 30% of the BS section of the mcat according to my kaplan instructor... It seemed about right for the one I took.

Actually yes. That is what I did. The more popular route is to take organic chemistry during the summer term in between Freshman/sophomore year. Its a lot more condensed, the work load is less (less reactions to memorize.)

alright lol..
thats a vote for me taking o-chem over the summer haha..
easier for me next year <,<
