I have applied to seven schools:
U of florida
U of north carolina
U of california San Francisco
U of maryland baltimore
U of michigan ann arbor
U of pittsburg
U of illinois chicago
I expect to get an interview from all these schools. I am a florida resident so my first choice is UF. My second choice is UCSF ( I hope I will get an interview soon). I am planning to attend no more than 5 interview.
Which of these schools do you suggest I go to? Is there any of the schools that have an impressive program, good facilities, nice lab, nice campus or any one of the above?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Consider this, I have not been to any of these schools, so I have no idea about their campuses or about their city. To me, they are all just names. Please give me some advice.

I would stay away from cold country..Michigan, Chicago...
Its cold for even residents of thta state.😀

My predictions, based on dentist2008's stats:

UF - Shoo-in. Unless you really pooch your interview, I don't see how they won't take an in-state resident with your stats. 😀

UNC - You'll rate an interview for sure. But you are competing against a couple hundred other out-of-staters also with "creme de la creme" stats for about 15 seats so I'd say your chances here are only fair.

UCSF - Interview here too yep. But, UCSF is notoriously difficult for out-of-staters to get into, even with top stats. I'd say your chances here are less than fair.

UMB - Interview. Fair chance similar to UNC.

UMich - This state school has a "national" focus and does not have a big preference for state residents. You should be able to get in here with a good interview.

UPitts - Very good chance.

UIC - Interview, Fair chance similar to UNC.

Bottom line: in 2008 I expect to congratulate you on receiving your DDS. 🙂

my suggestion to you would be to go visit those school's websites and gather as much info as you need to make a determination of where you would like to go.

its all about where you think you will fit best.

I would personally choose:

UF (instate)
UCSF (actually I would never choose this, but you did)
UNC (I'm a little biased)
Maryland (This is where you have the best shot)
Michigan (good national reputation)

have u heard anything from the schools yet?
thx for supporting our public dental schools.
the drawback is that they are kinda selective.
i suggest you focus on UF.
and go to every single interviews.
i am sure you will get an interview from UMB.
not sure about ucsf.

I have recieved interviews for U of maryland and UF however, I expect an interview for all these schools. I think they might reject me after the interviews though, mostly becasue I am an out of state applicant.
