My cancer center (where I am the only Radiation Oncologist) is applying for NAPBC accreditation. As part of that, I need to get my Rad Onc "department" accredited by either ACR-ROPA, ASTRO-APEx, or ACRO. Any opinion as to the pluses and minuses for which one of these to pursue?

ACR is the oldest and most established..ASTRO used to work in partnership with the ACR until a few years ago when they decided to separate out and create their Apex program.

I don't know much about acro but anecdotally, I've heard it's a little easier to get through their accreditation process.

I imagine any is fine.. my practice has had ACR accreditation for some time so that is what we are sticking with, plus the politics of ASTRO's leadership have not been in line with community-based freestanding centers for several years now, unfortunately

Our very large group went with ACRO, as they allowed us to have multiple centers go through accreditation at the same time, and we feel as if ASTRO does not represent our interests at all.

Our group also went with ACR. Part of the rationale is that we get a discount for combined accreditation of our RO/Imaging program. Also, as others have stated, it has the most history and is well-known.
Yes I forgot about that advantage, we are acr accredited on our PET, which I believe is actually required for cms coverage
