Hi all,
I couldn't find this in a search...my question is, is it better to take precalculus and calculus instead of algebra, as far as vet schools are concerned? I don't even remember algebra (it's been 19 years since my bachelor's degree) so I'd rather take something like algebra if possible. My other thought is to do all 3, so that I have a refresher course in math, but demonstrate that I am willing to go further and take more challenging subjects as well. The only issues are time and money. Thank you for in advance for any help!

The advice of which math class to take is very dependent on which vet school(s) you plan on applying to.

Some schools will take math credits no matter how old they are, so you may need to take nothing depending on what you took for your BA/BS.

Many schools require Statistics or will take it in lieu of Calculus. IMO stats is the better class to take if you need a math class.

Only one school that I know of requires Calculus. I wouldn't bother with it unless you want to apply to a school that requires it or you plan on taking a calculus-based physics class. (Algebra-based physics is fine for every vet school as far as I know so calculus-based physics probably isn't necessary.)

If the vet schools you are applying to require 6 credits of math, maybe consider algebra/trig/pre-calc + stats depending on school requirements

Google aavmc and prereq chart and each schools specific requirement should come up. Base your course choices on the schools you intend on applying to.
