Which MSAR should I buy?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Don't buy one! That's such a waste, just hit up your local pre-med office, or if your like me just camp out at the local bookstore with a note pad. You can get down everything you need in just a few minutes.

These things are actually fairly worthless

Check your school's library as well. You can probably scan/copy any info you need if you want to save some $$.

i bought one and it doesn't provide me with anything i need to know. Half the stuff in the book is very basic and crap i already know....waste of money.

Bump because I have the same question. I'm applying next cycle for 2013 matriculation. I was going to buy the 2012/2013 version.

if you buy the online version you'll have access for a year, so It will still be available to you when the data is updated next April. Whatever you do, don't buy the current print version, it doesn't have any data.

Just a side note: unlike older books, that the most recent version, both on-line and print-copy, do not include the school's mission statements. I hope they fix that in next year's release.

I think that's been fixed already. I have both and they have them.

Thanks. Good to hear. It's funny the AAMC site still says they don't have it (middle of page 1): https://www.aamc.org/students/download/181264/data/comparison_chart.pdf
Yeah that is weird.
I can confirm that the online version does have the mission statements. It's on the first page when you click on the school
Also, the mission statement is in the free "guest" edition of the MSAR online. It's one of the few bits of information you can see for free

Thanks, I didn't find that on first viewing it.
