Just curious, if you had to pick which class you can get the highest grade in out of Biochem, Genetics, and Cell Bio; which one would you pick (all- same # of credits)?

Easy cell biology. Genetics would be a runner up to that. Biochem is hard work lol.

I'd hope that I could get an A in biochemistry by actually knowing the material [I got an A- in the lower-division and a B+ in the upper-division]. It is the heaviest in both raw memorization and chemical calculations (equilibrium kinetics, reaction rates, titrations, etc.). The other two are primarily memorization-intensive IMO.

all of the above. I might prioritize my time differently to give the tougher classes more attention, but I wouldn't aim for anything short of perfection in any of those classes.

How about the one where you're most likely to get a good grade in?

I think there is no answer.

It all depends on who teaches the class.

Although someone says cell biology is easy, it is regarded as the hardest class in my school's biology department.

Rockymhs is right. You could make a hard exam for just about anything, or an easy exam for just about anything.

Ask around at your school. Cell bio at my school is probably the hardest to ace. The material isn't difficult, but it's really detailed. Our exams were short answer, and you had to answer in the space allowed. The professor would specify how many sentences you were allowed, and if you wrote more, he'd often give you zero points. You could get a B or better by studying the slides he really focused on, but to get an A, you really needed to have assimilated some really random details from the suggested reading. I remember that on one exam, there were three questions based upon a single sentence from the text that was pretty obscure and not covered in lecture.

I didn't take genetics, but that professor is also reputed to make exams extremely difficult. Biochem isn't an easy A, but it's easier than the other two in that you can figure out from lectures what they'll put on exams. Biochem I & II are both easier A's here than cell bio and genetics.

I'd ask for a lot of opinions and choose based on which professor is known to be the most straightforward in testing, and factor in how interesting their lectures are, unless you're the type to skip lecture and focus on the posted material.

Yea, at my school, the cell bio is difficult. We also had all short answer essay exams and the professor was very opinionated when he graded answers (off by a word = lots of points off). Genetics was the easiest one for me, and biochem was pretty easy as well (but it helped that my professor was my research mentor).

I guess if I had to pick a class to get the highest grade in, I'd say biochem.

There's so many different biochem classes, which ones are you guys talking about?

I TA'd for Structural Biochem, easily aced Metabolic Biochem, and struggled with Molecular Biochem.

biochem.

Most applicable overall to med school IMO.

Who cares.

Get an A in all of them.
