Neither, Designs for Vision

DFV's are (in my experience; I tried them out alongside my Surgitels) more expensive, clunkier, no more effective optically, and simply not worth an extra $150 in any way I could discern at all.

I hear that Zeiss makes kickass loupes.....as well as many other types of surgical lenses..... They are having a booth at the Greater New York Dental Meeting.........so you might wanna hang on to you money and take a look at them before you shell out cash for the other companies.

HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wont be around NYC for thanksgiving 🙁

i think i might go w/ surgitel just cause they quoted me at 650 and orascopic at around 750...

designs for vision is way too expensive...

do you guys have the flip up or the attached to the lens?

I just felt that the other companies frames where to flimsy for my taste. I got the big Buddy Holly frames with 3.5X. Most people got either DFV or Orascoptic. There where a few people in the class ahead of us that had terrible trouble dealing with the Surgitel people and there survice so I don't think anyone in our class got Surgitels
This is just my opinion

cusp,

you have an 3.5x lens????? I don't remember orascoptic giving us that price at our school. Why such a high mag? Is it to correct for your vision?

Doggie,

I've heard great things about the Zeiss loupes lens. The problem is though, they only have flip ups and not through-the-lens. I have a pair of Zeiss loupes right now, and they're ok. I think I would like the TTL better because they give you a wider field of vision than the flip-ups. Plus, TTL are a little lighter.

Stargirl,

The New York meeting lasts till Dec 3rd, I believe.....so we should have enough time to attend it.

xc1999,

what else didnt you like about the zeiss prisms? I'm thinking about either the 2.5 or 3.3 prisms....

I like my DFV. They are difficult to clean though and a bit clunky. I am getting another pair and will probably go with orascoptic this time around.
