I'm trying to figure out my rank list. Can anyone provide me with the pros/cons of LIJ cohens vs NYMC Maria Fareri vs DuPont? Thanks!

I did a rotation at NYMC and the residents were really friendly and generally seemed happy. They did say there is "not a lot of hand holding" there and they are thrown right into the action from the start. This could be a pro or con depending on your personality!

I also interviewed at LIJ and really liked it there. On our tour, one of the ED attendings stopped us to teach us about a case he was currently working up. It seemed like the attendings there really liked to teach. The program itself is on the larger side with about 33 interns per class, but I did not get the feeling that it felt big. It seemed like they see a variety of patients and everyone gets along well.

I didn't interview at DuPont so I can't offer any insight there.

What did you think of all these places?

I liked them all. Trying to pick apart the differences between them in order to determine which I like best. I am worried about the size of LIJ- it is quite large. Though I don't really know what size program would fit me best. I also think the location of these 3 programs are very different.

Are you choosing your top 3 or are you looking for #1. I don't know about LIJ, but Dupont has that big new hospital, Delaware is probably cheaper to live in. Do you plan to go for a fellowship? That may have to be in the mix.

Right now, I would say these are my top 3 and I'm trying to determine the order to put them in. I'm unsure about fellowship yet, but potentially yes.

Also interested in hearing more about Westchester vs. LIJ.... Also, anyone have any insight about morristown medical center/Atlantic health/ goryeb childrens? The residents at morristown seemed to have a large workload but like the program for the most part, from what I could tell?
