Which programs?

most of the bigger programs do.

Cornell and Longwood are some of the few I can remember that don't.

Some let you subsitute peds entirely for med. While some (like mine) let you split.

Which ones let you substitute peds entirely?

heck if I know. I went through all this last year. Most of them say on their websites. Ama-freida will give you links to most of them.

As someone in the integrated child track at my school though, I honestly think SOME medicine is important.

Which programs let you do your non-psychiatry months in peds rather than internal medicine?

UW allows you to do this. And I believe one of your two neurology months can be in child neuro; but you still have to do one month of adult neuro.

-AT.

UNM @ Albuquerque used to allow 3 mo's electives plus 1 mo IM ward, 2 mo's neuro. Don't know if that's still true.
UNM is a good, rounded program, lots of high-powered attendings. Variety of venues, good supervision, humane (as much as possible). Lots of research opportunities, but you don't get penalized if you don't want to do research.
