Hi

I am so confused because I don't know which schedule might be more difficult. I plan to take the 2005 MCAT. Should I take Orgo 2 and lab, Biochem, and Human physiology or Orgo 2 and lab, Human Genetics, and Human physiology. Thanks for your response.

I think the Genetics would be more helpful for the MCAT, but Biochemistry would be great to have before med school.

I agree.....Biochem is helpful for the MCAT. I also had genetics before the MCAT, but I think the Biochem was much more helpful

go with human genetics.

I never took biochem.. but the biochem on the mcats is basic stuff.

Which course do you find more interesting? What do your classmates think? Have they found one class taught better than the other at your school?

just dont be a fool and take all four like me 🙁

i would go with Orgo 2 and lab, Biochem, and Human physiology. are you planning on taking all in 1 semester? or spread out? you can definitely do all three in a single semester, it'll just be a lot (biochem isn't hard, phys and orgo just require a lot of time). i would definitely do biochem instead of genetics for the MCAT. it's not that you'll see biochem on the test, but that biochem is sort of an all-inclusive prep/review of the previous biology classes you've taken (if you do biochem, you would need to review very little for the biology section of the MCAT). genetics can be fun, but you really don't need it for the MCAT; in fact, i would put off genetics until later, to be taken along with other more difficult courses like anatomy, embryology, or histology (because genetics is pretty easy too).

Take Biochem. It will help you much more in med school than Genetics. Trust me, taking it in college really helped me out during my med school biochem class. My curriculum only has a tiny bit of genetics during first year and a whole class devoted to biochem that I just finished. Go with biochem.

Hi

Thanks for the info. Human Genetics is mostly about genetic diseases, rather than the principles of genetics.
