I need some opinions. I applied to five pharmacy schools, interviewed at four, and was accepted at two. The problem is that I was accepted by my original top school, Midwestern CPG, and my current top school, McWhorter school of Pharmacy at Samford. Is the quality of education at Midwestern CPG better than the quality of education at Samford? Is the quality of education at Midwestern enough to justify huge difference in tuition? Is the competition between U of A students and students at Midwestern as intense as people make it seem? We are getting opinions from family, friends, and everyone we can. All input is welcome.

In my opinion (take with 1 gr NaCl ad) you should go to where you will be the happiest and most fulfilled. At the end of the day you will have a PharmD at either university. The cheaper tuition at Samford seems like it is a huge bonus as well. You said yourself that it is your current top school so I would deduce from that statement that you have already made up your mind. Samford has been open for around 83 years and their PharmD program is 16 years old. Seems like a safe bet to me.

Go to Samford! It is cheaper for one thing and has been around a little longer than Midwestern (although not by much). The competition between UofA and Midwestern is exaggerated I think. However, many pharmacists who have graduated from each school have told me that UofA students can outcompete Midwestern students for rotations. Of course, I won't know this for a fact until I get to my fourth year, but considering UofA has been around for a long time and has many, many affiliations with various institutions, I would safely say that they probably have more opportunities with those institutions. They are also associated with a large medical center and Midwestern is not.

Thank you pearljam5a1, you made some great points. I should say that Samford ascended to the rank of top school because I was originally an alternate at Midwestern. I was just accepted this Friday the 16th. That's why it's such a hard decision.

If it was me, I would pick the cheapest school.
