Hey guys, I just took my DAT on monday and it turned out to be better than I expected. I initially put in primary application for 14 schools but now I'm thinking maybe I don't need to do the secondaries for all of them. I would really appreciate if you guys can give me feedback on these schools and which one I can perhaps cut out of my list. Things I were looking for are first instate if possible (California), good clinically, and nice weather if possible (haha not too cold I guess) but not a must, nice facility if possible.

My GPA is 3.74 overall and 3.81 Science.
DAT 27AA 28TS 25 PAT =)
EC: 90 hr total in private office and clinic, honors research, peer advisor, financial coordinator for nonprofit group, guitar ~7 years, dental lab, etc.

also as a side question, what's so good about Harvard?

anyways the schools are

UoP, UCSF, UCLA, Loma Linda, USC, Western ..(new one in cali), ASDOH, UNLV, NOVA, VCU, NYU, Tufts, Case Western, and UMD.

Let me know. Thanks guys.

cut LLU if you can't get a LOR from a minister/pastor/etc., and since westu is brand new, you might want to go to a program thats more established. my 2 cents.

Those two mentioned above and maybe NYU and Nova... pretty spendy?

If I were you, I would only apply to UoP, UCSF, UCLA, and Harvard.

Never seen such scores here-- you'll get into any school you want with such scores . Good luck.😀

Risky advice. Nothing is guaranteed even for somebody with high scores and GPA. I think the OP has an good chance to get in anywhere he or she applies unless he/she comes across as a shallow and immature individual. I would apply to at least 8 schools.

To the OP, in your shoes I'd apply to UoP, UCSF, UCLA, Harvard, Buffalo, Louisville, UMD, and Stonybrook. Add Tufts and BU if you really want to go to Boston and NYU and/or Columbia if you want to go to NY. The high stats means you can slant your list to more state schools but I'd throw in 3 or 4 of private ones just in case none of the state schools pan out. NY state schools are practically state schools in name only since they tend to pick a lot of out of stater people, especially Buffalo. If you look at their website most of the students are out of state. I don't know much about stony brook but I'd check them out too. Also temper this with places that you can see yourself staying for the next 4 years. Don't go somewhere you are not comfortable just because it is less $$$$$ and does not fulfill your objective for you dental education(research or strong clinical education).

You mean UoP, UCSF, UCLA, Harvard, Columbia, UPenn, UW and UConn. 8 is a good number for anyone to have, even if your stats are super high. Congrats!!! 👍
