I've heard... rumors that certain schools don't notify you by e-mail if you're invited or rejected, and that you have to go onto their status update page to actually check for yourself.

Can anyone confirm this is true? And if so, can someone provide a list of such schools (or perhaps link me to it, the search turned up negative)?

EDIT: I don't want to make myself seem any more of a neurotic premed than I already am by checking 25 status pages 2-3 times a day... hm...

I know this is the case for Duke.... but I would also like to know about other schools...

michigan will email you, but they'll email you like 3 days after you're invited via status page

I hear Loyola will send a rejection via snail mail...ouch

just to clarify

is snail mail the regular post mail and called snail cause it slow?

A corollary on rejections:

Be aware that a few schools are not going to e-mail you 'rejections', or they won't do so until they've actually got their entire class picked out for next year (ie, next July or something crazy). You'll just sit in limbo with 'application received'. You're not really rejected, but there's really no chance you'll be accepted either, once they've done all their interviews.

I can't remember for certain, but I believe I was in no man's land for like 10 months with Case Western Reserve, for example.
