Have you volunteered/shadowed/attended events at any dental schools? Toured with OHSU dental educator
Relevant Honors or Awards: Deans list
LOR type and strength: Ochem professor- very strong, General dentist I worked with - strong
Misc Info/Things not stated elsewhere/Red Flags:
Athletic travel year-round took up all my time, though tried to do things outside of it. Very low shadowing/ volunteering hours so far
Schools Interested In:
OHSU - really hopeful, I love Portland and want to practice there in the future.
Looking for more schools on the west coast I'd have a shot at admission to.
Not opposed to schools elsewhere since that would certainly limit things, but ... west coast best coast

what kind of office are you DA at?
are you still doing sports (or done in 2025)?

It's a "holistic" dental practice run by a general dentist.

Very conflicted about whether to continue sports after this quarter. I have competed for 3 years and I like it, but it is a ridiculously high time commitment. I could continue doing sports and take a gap year after to gain more experience/hours, but I don't want to take a gap year if it's not necessary. Honestly would much prefer to go straight into dental school. If I do apply in June, I feel that I'd have a much better shot of getting in if I quit sports and put my time towards gaining dental experience.

tip #1- do not mention "holistic" in your application or interviews. dental school is academic dentistry, so this is a red flag
tip #2- you need to work on this- Have you volunteered/shadowed/attended events at any dental schools? Toured with OHSU dental educator
tip #3- your shadowing hours plus your work hours are sufficient for GP, you need some specialty shadowing
tip #4- your volunteering is sufficient too
tip #5- School list😛lease include a list of schools you are interested in applying to! It is much easier for users to help you when you have taken the time to construct your own school list first!
