Since the state that i am a resident of (MD) has 2 med schools (UMD and Hopkins) and my chances at UMD = 0 😀, I was wondering what states should i be looking at. I heard that NY is pretty friendly to CA students so i was wondering is it like that for MD ie another state understanding what us Marylanders face.

Thanks.

Everyone on SDN assumes that unless you're from Cali, we all have magic access to in-state schools, which is totally not true. So many states have 1 or 2 schools, which makes it really hard to get in any way.

I would just apply broadly, as it's all a lottery.

Edit: Or are most people here from Cali/NY?

Hope this isn't too late. The West Virginia schools are.

If I were you, I'd apply to private schools that fit your stats and mission across the entire country.

Schools in the area I would consider (including neighboring public schools) are VCU, EVMS, UVA, WVU, PSU, Drexel, Temple, Jefferson, GWU.

Why not University of Maryland? Also, Hopkins has slight bias towards MD residents.
