At BU we did not have a white coat ceremony, but a pin ceremony. It was just a nice way to welcome you into the profession and we took an oath to adhere to the practice of dentistry in a moral and ethical manner.

i'm going to unlv in the fall too and i haven't heard about this white coat ceremony either. if anyone at unlv knows please share!!! thanks

ASDOH does white coat ceremony. It will be on July 23rd.

Houston has a white coat ceremony. It will be held August 11.

Temple's is after the second year when you become a 'real student dentist'. I think it is in Apr-May...

tufts is in spring of second year.

The whitecoat ceremony originated a several years ago in medical schools and is now catching on with their dental counterparts and not every dental school has one. And, for what it's worth, Penn has one the weekend before our orientation.

at Case we have ours Aug. 3 just after orientation.

I think we should petition for a world wide "Bikini" ceremony for the females amongst us...

UNLV white coat is the friday after your orientation week. It will be at Beam music hall at UNLV. Super cool ceremony.

Kentucky has theirs around September of first year y'all (trying to lose that "y'all" thing since I graduated). They give you the "long" coat with your name and university, but you kinda feel like an a$$ without the DMD while you are wearing it. Luckily, we were only required to sport it when we did our geriatric, orofacial pain, and OMFS rotations (only when you go on rounds). I lost mine soon after first year so I resorted to borrowing my classmate's and assumed my alter ego, Alireza, for those white-coat appearances. Most people did not notice, but the few who did were entertained (I am obviously not Persian)

Us first years at Indiana had our white coat ceremony today!

Yipee. Feels good to wear it, although I have four more years until I can truly feel happy.
