Who is rejecting UCSF?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
This is important to those of us who are waitlisted for UCSF.

What's the deal with UCSF's waitlist? Are you guys gonna be considered still while UCSF interviews other students? Or You will be on the waitlist until the end of the cycle, then they'll go back to consider the waitlisters?

Our application is still under review.

Did you get that e-mail saying the application is still under review? That's the one I got. Or did you receive an ACTUAL e-mail saying you're on the alternate list??

I got the e-mail that says my file is still under review. It does not say anything about waitlist.

Thanks man. By the way, do you have any research or publications? How did your interviews go?

I wonder how many people are interviewed and still under consideration like us.

To answer your 1st question, no I did not have ANY of those. Your 2nd question, I am not trying to sound arrogant or anything. I had 5 interviews in 2 cycles. Honestly, I thought that was the best interview I've had out of the 5, but I know I wrote a pretty BAD essay near the end. Can't exactly expect a person with fever during the interview to write a good one when I am not a strong writer in the 1st place. So ya...my stats are already lower then what UCSF is normally looking for, then on top of the factor (not having reaserch and a weak essay,) I knew it's gonna be a long shot from the beginning. Just gotta play this waiting game a little bit longer to find what what my fate is at UCSF. Rejection, waitlist, or hopefully an acceptance.

Last Christmas I gave you my heart
But the very next day, you gave it away

Do not worry. I think the interview part is the most important part. Very few people can write a good essay on an abstract topic in 30 minutes. Hopefully, we will both get in in this upcomming cycle.

hahaha what are you talking about?? BTW, are you the girl that added me on facebook? Not gonna mention your name on here but I am just curious.

At least 11 including me and you. 2 of my friends also got the same e-mail and one of them also knows 8 other people that are in the same boat with us.

i am really attached to Case right now, i feel like Case will take a good care of me in the next 4 years. Some D3 students there told me that she feel like she is pampered by Case. UCSF is a public school, where you cannot demand anything:laugh:
If UCSF accepts me, then i will have the most hardest decision to make in my life.
Good luck to you

So everyone who got in to UCSF is going to make the deposit?

Not yet.... still having a hard time deciding between UCSF and UOP... money and specializing are not the factors I'm considering though, but slowly leaning toward UCSF. Anyone can convince me to go to UOP? Then there might be an open spot...

Normally I'll try to convince people to go to UOP, but since I like both schools equally, I got nothing on you.

I also got the email saying I am still being considered, and I guess it is quite not waitlisted.

For Siba considering UOP I stayed the night with a friend who just graduated from there and is doing clinical residancy for oral surgery in Oakland. He said that he choose UOP because it heavily focuses on clinicals and he is a hands on kind of guy. Other then that he said that San Fran has better research if that is what you are into.

So, is there any chance that UCSF will send out more acceptances before Jan. 15 so that people do not have to lose out on deposits for other schools or do they pretty much just wait til then and make everyone eat their other deposits?

I am pretty sure UCSF only sent out 55-60 acceptances on Dec. 1st so I guess they could send out more acceptances before Jan 15th but I dont know if they will.

Plus, don't forget, they're STILL interviewing other applicants this whole time they're waiting for the 45 days response from people who got admitted. As much as I want to be optimistic about our situation...I kinda have to go with the glass is half empty at this moment.

Talked to admissions today. He told me to just hold on tight, they won't be sending out any acceptance before new year so....... ya Don't expect anything before that.

Thanks for the info. Peerless. Do you think it is to our (those who are still under review) advantage that they wont be sending out any acceptance before the new year?

Ya that I am not soo sure about because admissions told me they're gonna wait for the 45 days deadline they give the 1st batch acceptancees. And there most likely won't be any move before new years. That's all I was told. Plus juding from the SDN posts, people are gonna have a hard time picking betwen UCSF and other schools so that's gonna take a while IMO.

That is right. By the way, does anyone know how many people usually get off the USC's alternate list.(I interviewed there before december but I am on the alternate list).
