I know faculty, 4th year students, and practicing physicians do. Do these practicing physicians have to be a graduate of that med school? What about residents? How do these individuals get invited to be a part of the admissions committee? Anyone know?

-- Not at all. Most are not.

What about residents?
-- I don't think many residents would have the time to serve on an admissions committee. Can't say I know anyone who was interviewed by one.

--Frankly, there is generally not a big group of faculty dying to get on the admissions committee. So, it's pretty much send out an e-mail to all faculty or mention it at a faculty senate type meeting and those are interested get on the admissions committee. For students, it's usually the same idea-- some kind of e-mail or go to the class officers and have them find out who's interested. Also, it's pretty common to have third and fourth years, and even sometimes pre-clinical students on admissions committees. This varies a lot from school to school.

Does everyone on the adcom, including students, have to vote according to certain protocols or can they vote however they like? I mean, judging from this messageboard, a lot of students are against AA. What if certain students sitting on adcoms have personal vendettas against a particular group or type of student? Just curious...

The students on the ad com at my school are elected by our class. And I feel that they are pretty good representatives of the class and ethical people. So I dont think that this would be a problem for most places. Although I guess theoretically this could be happen...

1st and second year students are on at the U of Wisconsin...they interview, not a 100 percent if they sit in on the decisions. I know they have seperate adcoms for instate and out of state..
