Who STILL hasn't heard from BU (post-secondary)?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I noticed on the BU web page that it says that if you haven't heard anything from them by March 1st, you can call to see if they'll give you an interview.

Good luck!

They cashed my check back in December, and nothing since. I get the feeling that this is not good news. But, there is always some hope, right?

I don't want to be discouraging but I'm in the same situation and I really don't think there is much chance at this stage in the game. But you never know this whole process is so random. So keep our hopes up. Good Luck

thanks huckins! appreciate it!

100 beer tokens at happy hour down the drain! Damn!! --Trek

drunk again trek? what's up buddy! keep on partying..this undergrad/everything BUT medschool crap will end soon.

I'm going to be interviewing at Tufts next week, and I haven't even bothered to call Boston to try to coordinate an interview, which is really unlike me! Their disinterest is catching...........

Did anyone get a chance to call BU today in order to find out if they are still offering interview invites? I had a busy day and couldn't fit it in my schedule today.

I applied late to BU and called them yesterday. The admissions person was extremely rude, not friendly at all. However, she told me that my application was still under review, so nothing about an interview yet.

i haven't heard anything. i feel kind of ripped off? anyone else?

I think they get an inordinate amount of apps and have a really low tech/low budget/disorganized admissions office, although why they can't upgrade with all the money we sent 'em is another question. I bet they'll be interviewing for a while yet.

Called today - they said i was rejected. letter will be mailed shortly. 🙁 The lady was really rude, but I thought that I was pretty nice to her! I just don't get it.

I just want to add that BU also sux post interview. I interviewed over 3 months ago and haven't heard anything. At this point I don't expect an acceptance, but it would be nice to hear something! It was also rude for them to be so misleading about the elusive February 15th! It almost ruined my Valentine's Day making me worry like that! 😡

This doesn't seem to be good news for the rest of us waiting to hear something.

The only difference, however, is that the woman told me, "you will not be accepted this year." I said, "okay, well, thank you." She then said "you're welcome" and then just hung up on me.

Two years in a row, I feel like I just gave away $100 to that school. I know that their engineering graduate school application fee is only $60. I get the feeling that schools like BU just totally take advantage of the supply-and-demand thing.

I have not heard anything from them either. I was planning to call them this afternoon after the mail runs. I do know that they are sending out rejections because there are a couple of SDN people who have gotten them.

I just called BU and told them I interviewed 3 months ago, without giving my name. I asked if there is a specific date when they are sending out final post-interview decisions, and she said no. I then asked if they are still being sent out (like on a continuous basis) and she said yes, they are still being sent.

great, maybe I'll hear form them in May. And yes I'm too chicken to give my name for fear of being rejected/waitlisted over the phone

After not hearing anything forever, I finally called at the beginning of Feb. and invented a fictional trip out to Boston as my reason for needing to know if I would be interviewed. (well, I WOULD have come to Boston had interviews materialized!). They were just like, "oh, you're coming to Boston March 1st? Okay, we'll note it in your file." Then, nothing.

So, this weekend I preempted their rejection by withdrawing. It is a rather pathetic victory, though, since they still got my $100. 🙄

The next time I called, the lady told me I would not be accepted this year.

I called today and got that vague "Your file is under review." I really doubt the lady that answered the phone checked, however. As soon as I told her my name and that I was checking on my application status, she told me that I was still under review. With any other school, I was always put on hold while they checked. Her answer was a little too quick this afternoon.

BU makes just short of ONE MILLION dollars per year on secondaries alone. Someone needs to call the friggin' better business bureau quick! A ONE MILLION dollar budget yearly to review secondaries?!

screw BU. they charge THAT much "to process the application" but take forever to do it. very bad business. too bad there's nothign we can do about it...it ticks me hoff. anyway..i'm more ticked off because when i called a few days ago, the lady told me i would not be getting in this year. funny that she put it like that..she could have said we won't be interviewing you and left it at that. i also said thank you (not sarcastically) and goodbye.

i think i'm gonna start hanging up on those hoes when they break the bad news over my head instead of softly over my nude buttocks.

I'm in the same situation (complete since Nov., no interview)--I really don't want to call though--it's easier to read that than have someone tell you! 🙁 Good luck with your other schools you all!

oh come on liesie...just take advantage...you'll have the opportunity to say something witty and hangup. tell her "Miss, do you have a closet?? Well hang this up!!"

I've got to say that the people who answer phones at BU are BY FAR the worst and the rudest I've ever encountered.

I have to defend BU because I pray to the BU gods nightly. The people who work there are very nice in person. BU is one of those schools that has one of largest number of applications per year (I think). So imagine trying to do your job while being bombarded with 10,000 people calling up to check their status. Granted, we pay enough money to them, but they are not going to use that money to start an operating service for impatient applicants

(Here I am editing bad things I said about BU)-but please realize I feel for you people since they have kept me waiting too)

I know that there's not necessarily a correlation between the application fee and the quality of customer service. Nonetheless, it just irks me that they charge 30-100% more on application fee than Jefferson, Temple, MCPH, Northwestern, Loyola and all these other private schools. Yet they're just not very nice at all. Maybe I'm just being a sour grape. If I'd been given an interview, I might have a different perspective on them.

If they are so angry/agitated about all the applicants calling every day, why don't they just invest in a web based system, like UPenn, etc, so the amount of phone calls would be much less.
