So I see people on here studying for step 1 who plan to take it in Feb or March. Is this normal? I was under the impression that most people took boards in June-July, since isn't that when MS2 year ends for most people?

Most people take them around June. 3rd year starts in July at many schools. I guess maybe at some schools like Baylor where they do the first 2 years in only 1 1/2 years and start clinicals early they would be able to take step 1 earlier than June.

I'll be taking my boards in Feburary. Ross students do it throughout the year because we got classes starting 3 times a year.

At Baylor we start clinical rotations in January of 2nd year, but we don't take the Step I then. Most actually wait until January or February of their 3rd year because Baylor only requires that you have taken Step I and II by graduation. They don't care when you take it. Obviously, you need to take the Step I before applying to residency, but no one takes the Step II until right before graduation.

That is interesting. I wonder if these students find they forget some of the information a year after finishing their last basic science class; or instead do they find the applicability of their knowledge is augmented after some time on the wards?

I'm planning on taking step 1 on February. I took a semester long leave of absence in my MS-2 year first semester. I'm back now making that up. I'll be finished my first two years of med school by Christmas, then take all of January to study for the boards. I know that Imbebo has started studying, have you guys?
