Hey guys I sent this message out a few months ago, and I didnt get too much response...I think it was a little early. But anyway I just wanted to ask, what is everyone doing for their living situation, and to meet some of my future classmates. I have been up to SF a few times looking for apartments around school... it hasnt been very easy. Anyone have any suggestions?

I accepted last month. I'm not sure about the living situation, as I have been told it might be a tad bit early to look for apartments. It's probably a good idea to start looking around mid-May. I'll be out of the country for a few months...coming back in late May. Hopefully there will be some places open for me. Glad to meet another classmate.

Hi John Nice to meet you! So where are you going? I am done with school also, and I was thinking of going to Italy for a little bit...Not sure what I am going to do yet.

I am hoping to get into student housing, although with the lottery system, the odds aren't too good. In terms of looking elsewhere, I would think the earliest time to start would be late May or June because you can't realistically hold onto a place for a few months without acutally moving in. Of course, if you have the money, by all means, start as soon as possible. 🙂

Check out craigslist (www.craigslist.org) for apartment listings. It IS too early to start trying to sign a lease in SF, but with craigslist you can start looking at what is typically available, prices etc. Many listings have pics and you can search by area in SF (pacific heights, castro etc.). Also, if you are looking for furniture etc. it is a great spot to find anything...and if you check it out often, you can find stuff at low prices!

Good Luck!

Yes...I've been browsing craigslist in times of boredom. However, I was thinking about getting a place with friends and most of the listings on craigslist are for single rooms, which is also helpful I suppose in estimating costs. Trying to find a place close to school (within a few blocks) is also a b****. I wish there was a more specific description than "pacific heights" although that's purely wishful thinking.

Hi philicity! on craigslist you can search for multiple bedroom apartments. Also when you click on any of the choices that come up in your search, there is usually a google map link at the bottom of the page you can click on to show you where exactly the apartment is. Just remember the school is on webster and sacramento.

Is Craigslist the best way to find a place up there? has anyone heard of any other website?

Look under map search and find the area surrounding UOP. The site doesn't really give you price estimates, but at least it provides you with a phone number that you can call.

Regarding craigslist, many of the listings under apartments/housing are in fact studios. And I guess I'm spoiled by my current living situation, but with multiple bedrooms, the price that totals up for one room is VERY PRICEY (compared to renting out a single room elsewhere). I'm glad there is still a few months left before I will seriously start to worry :scared:

Thanks for the website
