When do you plan on committing to one school? Another thread post mentioned that after May 15th schools could drop people holding multiple acceptances but not that they necessarily would. Is there any benefit to hanging on after this date to see who will respond with a competitive offer? Anyone familiar with the risk?

I have no problem calling candidates holding multiple accepts after May 15th. It's not to offer them an inducement, either.

The exception would be if they were accepted after May 1st at a new school and they had not yet received financial aid info from that school.

If you are still holding multiple acceptances (that you received in April at the latest) by May 15th, you are taking a huge gamble with ALL those schools. It's not gonna be like a game of chicken, where all the schools spontaneously drop you except one, where you're still fine because hey, now it's the only offer you've got. No, you run a very real risk of ALL those schools dropping you, leaving you with NOTHING. It DOES happen. Your offers are not going to get better in May once other applicants start declining offers - think of how quickly that would spiral out of control for the schools. All that will happen post-15th is those offers start disappearing, or - if you're lucky - you'll get an ultimatum phone call from the dean asking for your response NOW (and that's an ugly way to start your professional relationship with the school if you plan to say yes). Even new offers past the 15th have strict time limits attached - EVMS gave me the weekend to choose between them and VTC when they called (in July lol).

Don't be a fool and risk it all for nothing. Pick one of your offers and move on.
