Who are you? Also if you're a foreign dentist, then please vote "others" in the poll since I did not have a specific category for you guys.

Nice job, Andy.

I'm curious about the lurkers also. And, if you are lurking then come out of your shell and join the forum!

We really could use your opinions/ideas/expertise, even if you only post ten times!

Seems that once you get past the first year, SDN use drops off!

By the way, I have become an avid lurker at DentalTown. WOW!
Not to take anything away from SDN, because SDN is wonderful....but....

It's a coming of age experience. I feel like I walked out of Toys-r-Us, and into Home Depot.

We should do another poll to see how many lurkers decided to lurk by this poll.

Ehop:

It's funny that you brought that point up. I remember when I first found this site as a Pre-Dent, how excited I was. I even started a thread wondering if SDN participants are planning to continue to contribute to this amazing site once they're in Dental Schools. Some said "yes" and some said "no".

I was one of those that said "yes" if time had permitted. I guess time permitted! I plan on lurking around this thing up til I graduate in 2006 and even if I get into an OMS residency, I think I would continue to be involved (again, given if time permits).

I believe that we all have different experiences that we can share to our future and current colleagues and each year we gain more experiences to share as we progress through our dental education.

I think DentalTown is great, but I feel that I can relate it more once I'm in practice or in residency. For now, SDN will be my forum home for at least another 3 years!

😎

Yah-e, youre one of the pillars that keeps the SDN dental boards strong!

Hopefully more of the first year dental students will show the same desire. And better yet, hopefully theyll have time!

I usually don't post very often however I read SDN daily. I remember starting out on this board at the start of my freshman year of college....hardly any posts compared to what it is now except for Yah-E which have always been extremely helpful.
Now i'm moving my way up to junior and will be applying in the 2004 cycle.....have even spent time volunteering at the department of OMS at UMaryland..(hopeful future OMS here too)....Yah-E great job and thanks for all the posts!

Dr. P. Duck:

Thanks for your kind words. Good luck in your upcoming AADSAS application. If you stick around long enough and if I get into an OMS down the road, I'll be sure to stick around and try to help you out as much as I can. Even if I do decide not to pursue OMS, I'm sure I'll be around "lurking"! 😀

RPW: dental is the way to go, come to the "dark" side!!

One thing, there's gotta be more than just 7 of us D2s on this SDN thing!? C'MON, where are my fellow D2s? 😡

I only recently found this site and replied to one previous post a month or so ago. I graduated from USC dental school in 2003 and I am currently a first year OMFS resident at the University of Minnesota. I know there are a few interested OMFS candidates out there, so If you have any questions regarding the application process or programs I would be happy to try to answer them to the best of my experience or at least offer my opinion.

We now have 3 OMS residents on SDN, they are:

1) ewsmith1 - OMS/MD: where? PGY-1
2) toofache32 - OMS/MD: Texas, PGY-1
3) USC2003 - OMS: Minnesota, PGY-1

Thank you guys for sticking around and please don't by shy to give us, "OMS-hopefuls" some tips.
