So, here's my rant against the AAMC. Get my MCAT scores back yesterday. SSN is all 9s. Check my AMCAS, right ssn. Check the login for MCAT registration, right ssn. How to fix it? Find a notary, make an official copy of my social security card, and mail it to them. Takes a solid week they tell me.

Problem earlier with my AACOMAS app, call them, they politely tell me its difficult to solve over the phone and to email them, 20 minutes later, problem solved. Identical problem on AMCAS, nothing can be done.

So, has anyone else had ssn issues with their MCAT scores. How long did it take for them to fix it? Just curious, sorry for the ranting. I'm beginning to think that the respective bureacracies will be the subject for why DO in my secondary essays.

No said problems here - but I think your secondaries will be unique 👍

You need to contact AAMC on how to fix the problem.

I did. I sent them a notarized copy of my ids and a signed letter requesting they change it. It's just annoying as they have my correct info on my amcas application which the mcat posted to and on the mcat login screen (I checked pretending I was about to reregister), and still they need a week to fix it. I called them about it and they just told me it must be a glitch and I need to find a notary. I was just curious if this happens all the time.

Well as long as it was correct online and on the scores they sent to AMCAS it shouldn't mess up your application or delay it any. If AMCAS already has your MCAT score then they've already got it.

Was it just wrong on the paper score you received? I would definitely do what you did to get it fixed but if it's correct everywhere else I wouldn't think it would delay anything.

It was wrong on the score release THX page, but right everywhere else. I think the THX page is the equivalent of the paper score they used to send out. Hopefully it goes through, but I sent the change request anyways. Does anyone know how long after getting mcat scores one should expect to see them show up on aacomas if already verified and mailed. Thanks for the advice everyone.

I am dealing w/ the same exact nonsense right now. I went to the notary and mailed the stuff on Monday and they promised me today it would be updated tomorrow. It cost me $20 to get everything notarized.

So, I e-submitted on the 8th of June, submitted my MCAT on the 15th, and here we are at the 28th of June and the AACOMAS still doesn't have my MCAT scores. So much for getting my application in early.

Good Luck w/ the issue, and be persistent w/ the AAMC.

Don't worry, even if you submit in July, you'll still be early. Just make sure to follow up with tem frequently. If it makes you feel better I had some transcript problems that set my apps back a full 2 months.

So I guess I'm not alone. I'm thinking they might have an Ali G computer somewhere that can multiply 999...99...9999. I also just noticed that I no longer live in PA, I live in a little state called ZZ. It's a nice play, rock musicians with long beards all over the place.

I know it is a little late, but for future reference most major banks (Citibank. Bank of America..etc.) have their own notary person on staff and they will do it for free for people who have accounts with them.

Shudder:scared: This brings back memories for me and when I applied.... They had the wrong name with my SSN.. It held up my application for weeks and weeks and only after threatened legal actions against them, did they correct my application and send it off. It was an AMCAS mistake but it cost me dearly in time the first year I applied.

Good luck in getting this resolved:luck:

I did not know that. Great tip for future reference.

I just got off the phone w/ the AAMC. Even though they promised me through e-mail that it would be corrected today, they did not, and the person whose job it is to change it went home before 5:00pm. I'm very disappointed in their lack of professionalism. 👎

Our Phone Conversation:
Playmakur42- "They promised me in an e-mail yesterday that my SSN would be updated today, but they didn't. Basically, your organization lied to me, right?"

AAMC- "Yes."

Playmakur42- "Have a nice weekend."

Playmakur42, you and I, we need to get them somehow. They are ridiculous. And Amy B, you're on the team too. How to get them? Well, I don't know that. I do want them to fix it eventually. Maybe they'll just sense my ire.

I am in the same situation, the only problem is I lost my SS card so I am waiting to hear back from AAMC as to what they will take as official proof of my SSN.

I feel for you. I was relieved that mine was actually where I thought it was. If they are sticklers, you could also try having them assign you another number and having aacomas change to that number. I read somewhere about the number just needing to match to line them up. You could then change with aacomas later. Best of luck.

Hello all,

I am a SDN newbie. I recently took the mcat in august and when i check my scores the SSN was wrong on the aamc score release site. I sent emails and got one response. Then when i called again it was determined that the SSN listed was their phone number. And the lady didn't know how it got there and that it has to do with data entry. And she was going to send an email to someone in her department to change it. She also said that this doesnt really happen but judging from the posts this was a common problem. And it has been several years since your posts.

However, that doesn't make sense how it ended up as their phone number and not my actual informtion. The score i received were awful and the previous test had all the correct information. I don't feel like this is my correct score.

Any advice?
