So I am beginning to get a little bit worried now. I have not recieved one interview yet. I applied to over 10 different schools, and have only recieved one rejection (from midwestern, probably becuase I filled out the secondary application very quickly, they said something like I was a strong applicant but the pool was too strong or something like that), but other than that I haven't got anything other than the usual emails of my application being complete.

With that said, my GPA is a 3.42, science is a 3.22. My application was sent out August 24, 2009, but I did not take my DAT until September 29. My AA was 20, TS 20, and PAT 19.

UoP has me under 're-review @ end of January' and USC says that they will be sending interviews after the beginning of the new year (so anytime now). But is there something im missing?!

I have over 100hrs of shadowing/observing some volunteer work (at a hospital, adopt-a-highway, boys and girls club).

I would say biggest reason is probably because you submitted your application so late. By the time you submitted, most schools I would say have already started filling up their seats. Your DAT scores are great but even that won't help you if you apply late.

I hope you do get some interviews but if not, apply nice and early next cycle. Good luck 🙂

Most likely because of the late DAT. 🙁 Hopefully after the 15th the interviews will start rolling in for you. Good luck.

🙁 man... I was hoping to not have to wait until next cycle, but thanks :xf:

It is definitely the late DAT score. I am in the same boat because I took my DAT mid-August. I've only had 1 interview and I'm currently on the alternate list. I think applicants are just applying earlier and people who applied late last cycle didn't risk it this time around.

It's not like your gpa knocked their socks off their feet.

Numbers don't tell the whole story. What have you done to stand out from other applicants who have a 3.2-3.4 GPA with high teens/20 DAT and some shadow/volunteer time? You numbers represent approximately the center of mass of the pool. What breaks you out from the pack?

I do not think the late date is crushing your chances, although it isn't helping. My app (it was complete) wasn't mailed by AADSAS until the 29th of Sep. In no way do my numbers differentiate myself from the pack and I have received 2 interview offers. I am guessing after people with multiple offers start slotting themselves to their top school later applicants like ourselves will start receiving more offers. Meanwhile, I would not stress over the matter too much as everything is out of your hands. If you feel compelled, I would channel your efforts into programs/experiences which you will be able to speak about at your future interviews!

Just wait a little longer, admission to dental school has become extremely competitive, as you know, a lot of posters here have 22+DAT and 3.5, so having a 3.4 with 20 while is a good combination, it is no longer competitive.
However, many schools are still reviewing apps and a lot of spots will most likely open up after jan 15, so just sit tight 😀
good luck

sorry, what's the significance of Jan 15 again? is this an important date?

I just received my first interview today, and I submitted my application the beginning of July and retook my DAT on August 1st. Schools are obviously still giving out interviews! Good luck!

I agree, maybe you applied so late. Have you try to follow it up even through email or by calling the registrar?

I called UW over winter break, but was only able to leave a voicemail. I wasn't sure of how long I should wait until calling schools. I know they are fairly busy, so I wasnt sure when I should start to..
