i was just wondering why you guys were applying so early (august or sept) for the pharmacy class that enters in fall of 2006?

i understnad if you want an early decision, so this is not for those ppl.

i mean, would it take for them 8 months to process everything? i would imagine that they'd tell you if you're accepted or not in may or june...

it says for my uni (buffalo) that i have to have everything in by march 1st.
i emailed the admissions person and they said they'd have everything in by feb, just to be on the safe side.

so, why would i need to be applying right now, about 6 months early????

i'm new to this whole american applying process, and if i got in this year it'd be a bonus, since i'm only beginning my pharmacy experience around sept.

I am guessing because the earlier you apply, the better it looks. They see that you are focused/organized and know exactly what you want. It's kind of a bonus I guess? But then again those who apply early usually have a strong application/transcript and know they have a damn good chance so why bother waiting longer for no reason? The main reason I see someone waiting longer to apply is so they can have more time to make their application stronger by maybe trying to raise their GPA up, etc. But overall I highly doubt it matters too much - as long as you get everything in by the time they desire you to.

no
rolling admissions

they accept people as they get applications even though the deadline may be in march

that an my school has already had over 400 applications for c/o 2006

good luck
get your application in

EXACTLY. Your chances when you apply early are way better than applying later. It's not about those with the highest scores at the end of the application cycle... it's about those with the best scores out of the applicants that have gotten their applications IN... they are trying to fill their classes up. Apply ASAP! 🙂

Some of the schools have different admissions deadlines. The school Im applying to needs everything submitted by November 1st of this year.

Here's a better question: why not?

good question

1. like i said, i will just start volunteering at a pharmacy in sept. this will be my first and only pharm experience. i dont want to ask the guy to write me a letter of recomendation afeter 15 days of voluunteering. i want to wait at least a few months.

2. i dont have a prof recomnedation letter yet. i hope to get to know a prof through her/his office hours and get one to write me a letter this scohol year. again, this takes a few months to get to know them.

i know i seem all disorganized, but i have only decided on pharmacy VERY recently, so like i said, if i got in this year it'd be a bonus.

my gps is pretty good and i think i can do pretty good on pcat. i dont see why not if i study alot and take it in jan.
so i only need this experience thing to get some letters in.

btw i'm in my second year of uni here in canada and i'm also applying to a school (toronto school of pharmacy) that dont require a pcat or letters of recomendation!! 😀

I just want to get it over with. My life is full and anything I can cross off the to-do list is one less thing that has to be done. After I get my app in (only applying to PharmCAS schools), I can then start obsessively checking the mailbox and muttering obscenities under my breath at its emptiness. I have a reputation to maintain after all. 🙂

i am not tooooooooo woried about this

i figure they have to look at everyone's marks after the april marks come in anyway (to get the most accurate gpa).. or do they....?? who knows but logically i'd imagine they would

i figure they will look at my application, so if i am a good applicant i'll get in, if not, i can apply 5 years in advance and wont get in lol

If they have rolling admissions, they review applications and admit people as they come in. They won't wait for Spring 2005 grades. If you wait too long to submit your application, there will be limited spots left.

a lot of classes are already halfway accepted by jan.

so you have less of a shot the longer you wait

and no they don't wait until april to accept
